Hi there! I’m Hugo, I’ve been working in the fields of visual arts for over fifteen years. I was born in 1978 in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. When I was 20 years old I moved to Costa Rica to study Economics but I ended up studying Arts and Visual Communication. Then I worked as a freelance artist in the fields of painting, illustration, videoart and documentary film.
Since 2005 I live and work in Solothurn where I devote myself to the art of animation and teaching Visual Arts. In 2009 I finished my Bachelor in Media Art at the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern (FHNW). And in 2011 I received a Master’s degree in Design and Animation at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU).
I consider myself a politically awakened person. I’m passionate about visual communication, art, animation, history, anthropology, political economy and Physics. Through my work I want to reflect about political, socioeconomic and ecological themes that capture my attention and passion. Either with a didactic or an artistic approach, I want to share insights, inform, open discussions or just give my point of view.
